What is Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning immediately rejuvenates the skin by removing the top layer of skin cells from the stratum corneum along with vellus hair. It is highly effective in minimizing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and acne scars, while leaving skin smooth, supple, and vibrant. It has been utilized in medical practices for over 40 years to prepare the skin for chemical peels and laser treatments. In spas, it is often the exfoliation step in anti-aging facials. It is also utilized to prepare skin for light chemical peels, enzymes, Rezenerate nano infusion, light therapy, micro-current and other modalities. Dermaplaning increases the penetration of active ingredients in treatment room and home care products. Contraindications for Dermaplaning:

– Wait at least 1 week after Botox or Fillers; avoid dermaplaning after injections.
– Discontinue Retin-A use 5 days before and after treatment.
– Wait 14+ days post-chemical peel, depending on peel strength and skin condition.
– Wait 14+ days post-laser treatment, depending on treatment type and skin condition.
– Wait 10+ days post-IPL treatment, depending on treatment type and skin condition.
– Pre- and post-treat for at least 2 weeks for clients prone to Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH).
– Must have controlled diabetes through diet or medication.
– Not recommended during cancer treatment; doctor’s approval required post-treatment.
– Safe after 12 months of non-use of Accutane or Isotretinoin, with doctor’s approval.
– Not suitable for clients on blood thinners or with bleeding problems.
– Avoid if using high dosages or frequent Aspirin.
